Writter and director specalized in Fantastic & Horror films. His film When Evil Lurks, chosen as the best horror film of 2023, was the first Latin American film to win the Sitges festival.
He born on September 13, 1979 in Haedo, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. At eight years of age, he begins to create his own comic books recreating his favorite movies. This leads him, several years later, to study comic drawings with Horacio Lalia, from whom he learns to visually capture his stories. In 2003, he received his “audiovisual design” at the University of Morón.
In 2005, and after making numerous short films within the horror genre, he wrote the original screenplay for the movie “Death Know Your Name”. In 2007 he directed his first feature film, based on one of his homonymous short films “The Last Gateway“, chosen one of the 10 best horror films of 2007 by the site buried.com) In 2008 he wrote the original script of “They Want my Eyes”
His second film as a director was “Malditos Sean!“, Co-written and co-directed with Fabián Forte; It was released commercially in national halls in the year 2013.
Then there will be a series of short films including “El Mate Amargo” winner of several awards and chosen one of the 3 best short films of the year at the INCAA Short Film Night.His third feature film: “You do not know who you’re talking“ is a black comedy that parodies fantastic movies. In 2017 he released his fourth film: Terrified, based on one of his first short films called “Tiene Miedo”.
In 2019, he showed the remake of his own movie “Terrified” under the production of Guillermo Del Toro for Searchlinght pictures, a project that had to be postponed due to the pandemic.
In 2022 Rugna participates in the “Satanic Hispanics” project, an anthology of horror stories by various Latin American directors, with his story called “I also saw it” and he shot shoots his 5th feature film entitled “When Evil Lurks” which he won best movie in Sitges film festival and it was elected as the best horror movie of 2023 by rotten tomatoes site)

Breve Hoja de Vida: Demian Rugna Nace el 13 de septiembre de 1979 en Haedo, Pcia. de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Es Director y Guionista especializado en cine fantástico y terror.A los ocho años de edad comienza a crear sus propias historietas recreando sus películas favoritas. Esto lo lleva, ya varios años después, a estudiar dibujo de historieta con el maestro
Horacio Lalia, de quien aprende a plasmar visualmente sus historias. En el año 2003 se recibe como diseñador en audiovisual en la Universidad de Morón.En el 2005, y luego de realizar numerosos cortometrajes dentro del género de terror, escribe el guion original de la película “La Muerte Conoce tu nombre” . En el 2007 dirige su primer largometraje , basado en uno de sus cortometrajes homónimos “The Last Gateway“, Elegida una de las 10 mejores películas de terror del 2007 por el site buried.com)En el 2008 escribe el guion original de “They Want my Eyes”. Su segunda película como director fue “Malditos Sean!“, co escrita y codirigida junto a Fabián Forte; Fue estrenada comercialmente en salas nacionales en el año 2013.Luego vendra una serie de cortometrajes en los que se incluyen “El Mate Amargo” ganador de varios premios y elegido uno de los 3 mejores cortos del año en la Noche del Cortometraje INCAA, y “El Balerazo” ambos comedias negras con tintes fantasticos. Su tercer largometraje:”No sabes con quien estás hablando” es una comedia negra que parodia el cine fantastico y el detrás de escena de la tv.En el 2017 estrena su cuarta pelicula: Aterrados, basada en uno de sus primeros cortometrajes llamado “Tiene Miedo”. En el 2019 desarrolló la remake de su propia pelicula “Aterrados” bajo la produccion de Guillermo Del Toro para Searchlinght pictures, proyecto que debido a la pandemia debió verse postergado. en 2022 Rugna participa del proyecto “Satanic Hispanics” una antologìa de historias de terror de varios directores latinoamericanos, con su historia llamada “Tambièn lo vi” al mismo tiempo que filma su 5to largometraje Titulado “Cuando acecha la Maldad” (Ganadora del premio mejor pelicula en el festival de Sitges y elegida como la mejor pelicula de terror del año por el sitio rotten tomatoes)
